Failure of the Kentucky Office of Vocational Rehabilitation to Provide Assistive Technology Accommodations
WHEREAS, The Division of Blind Services, Part of the Kentucky Office of Vocational Rehabilitation OVR, is a state agency with a mandate to better the lives of blind and visually impaired individuals of Kentucky through independent living and employment training services; and
WHEREAS, Services and training are often provided by instructors who themselves are blind or vision impaired and full, independent and meaningful participation as an employee is critical to the success of the program; and
Becoming Community Partners During Times of Emergency
WHEREAS, This nation and the world as a whole has been in a state of health emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic since early 2020; and
WHEREAS, As a result of this worldwide crisis we have experienced closures, cut-backs, shortages, and the need to be tested and vaccinated for the COVID virus; and
WHEREAS, the blind and other disabled and disadvantaged people have been most negatively impacted by these conditions; and
Recognition of the Contributions of The American Printing House for the Blind to the National Federation of the Blind of Kentucky
WHEREAS, the purpose of the National Federation of the Blind of Kentucky is to advance the general welfare of the blind throughout our Commonwealth and the nation; and
WHEREAS, The American Printing House for the Blind, APH has demonstrated unwavering support of our organization for many years by hosting the Braille Enrichment for Literacy and Learning program, substantial monetary contributions, sponsorship of our Technology Assistance Division symposium and providing meeting space for the Greater Louisville chapter; and
