Regarding the Creation of Inaccessible State Government Documents and Forms
WHEREAS, for many years blind citizens have been unable to obtain most forms and other government documents in an accessible format; and
WHEREAS many of these documents are being sent out in print making it difficult for the blind to establish a level of independence due to the inability to complete these forms without sighted assistance; and
WHEREAS, many documents sent to blind people from state agencies are time-sensitive and have severe consequences attached to a missed deadline; and
Maintaining a Quality Education at Kentucky School for the Blind
WHEREAS the Kentucky School for the Blind (KSB) has served as the premier educational facility for young blind citizens of Kentucky since its inception in 1842; and
WHEREAS: The Kentucky School for the Blind was designated the Statewide Educational Resource Center on Blindness and Visual Impairment by the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) for students birth to 21; and
Certification for the Kentucky School for the Blind Administrative Staff Regarding Blind and Visually Impaired Students
WHEREAS: The Kentucky School for the Blind (KSB) was designated the Statewide Educational Resource Center on Blindness and Visual Impairment by the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) for students birth to 21; and
WHEREAS: These students are expected to receive a quality education in the core curriculum commensurate as with students in other Kentucky public schools; and
